Becoming a member

Davidson Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade is an organisation of volunteers who are united in assisting the people of NSW in battling fires, floods, storms and other disasters.

All of the members of the Brigade are volunteers who are asked to contribute their time for fires, brigade maintenance and training. Generally members are asked to attend one duty crew per month (Usually all day one Sunday) and one meeting per month (usually 7.30pm to 9.30pm on the second Monday of each month).

Some questions to ask yourself before joining:

  • Do you prefer to sit at home or do you prefer to be challenged?

  • Firefighting is a physical activity, are you committed to maintaining a basic level of fitness?

  • Are you prepared to become part of a team of people dedicated to protecting the community and environment?

  • We attend many different incidents.  Are you ready to attend anything from bushfires, car fires and house fires, to helping in storm damage or lost people searches?

  • Duty Crews are rostered 1 in 4 weekends, can you commit to one day of the weekend a month?

  • The brigade meets on the second Monday of the month in the evening, for our General meeting. Are you able to attend these meetings?

  • We meet for training on the third Monday of the month in the evening. Are you able to attend regular monthly training?

  • The RFS offers training courses that are run on weekends. Are you committed to personal development and expanding your horizons?

  • We assist Warringah-Pittwater in providing a 24 hour fast response to any incident in our shire. This means one or more nights every 2 months, Davidson members man a Pumper at Fire Control. Are you committed to providing a high standard of fire and emergency cover to our community?

If you answered YES to all these questions and like to be challenged, we welcome you to the team at Davidson RFS and hope you get as much satisfaction and enjoyment from the RFS as we do.

If you answered NO to any question, then we invite you to talk to us. We may be able to answer any questions you may have, or direct you to a unit within the RFS that is better suited to you and your expectations/ availability.
